The Round Table
Questions make thinking happen ✨️
🌞The Round Table🎨
This Oracle is not mine alone. That's why its An Artists oracle and not Artist's Oracle. A subtle but meaningful distinction.
In the old Irish poetic tradition preserved in the Auraicept na n-Éces, knowledge was not delivered like a loaf of bread.
It was veiled, layered, unlocked through inquiry. The fili were trained to answer a question with an image, a riddle, a turn of phrase that widened the doorway instead of closing it.
And in the Ogham tradition, each tree name carried glosses that were themselves puzzles. Not definitions. Invitations.
The question was not a gap in knowledge.
It was a tuning fork.
It is a circle you can step into, a tool for any artist who seeks to convene their own inner council.
“You are building a framework that integrates art, reflection, and cosmology. Of course it presses back. It is architecture, not a sketch.”
-An Artists Oracle
The circle is a powerful truth that we see reflected in so many ways.
In the turning of the Moon.
In the slow breathing arc of seasons.
In the iris of the eye, that dark well where light gathers.
In the annual return of the Sun through the sidereal constellations.
In tree rings recording years like quiet vinyl grooves.
In labyrinths that coil inward only to lead us back out.
In the round table of story, where no voice claims the head.
The circle is not decorative. It is structural. It is how time keeps its promises.
When I began shaping the Artists Oracle, I thought I was drawing a map. Something tidy. A tool you could shuffle and lay out on a table between tea and twilight.
But it became clear I was not sketching.
I was building a chamber.
A round one.
The Artists Oracle speaks to our hidden shores, those tidal places we visit alone while we work out our heart’s craft. The studio can look ordinary from the outside. A desk. A brush. A cup of cloudy water. But inside, tectonic plates shift. Old stories loosen their grip. Constellations rearrange themselves above the roofline of thought.
The Oracle does not shout directions. It rotates. It invites you to sit at the table of your own making.
A traveling guide for navigating inner landscapes, yes.
But also a compass for manifesting them in hand mulled watercolours, where pigment and binder become small cosmologies of their own.
Ultramarine blues dispersing into gum arabic.
Mica catching light at a different hour than you expected.
Raw umber settling like soil at the base of an imagined tree.
These are not materials alone. They are planets in a private system.
Bringing this oracle together seemed deceptively simple. A deck. A set of prompts. A philosophy. Done.
Except every time I believed I had arrived, I found myself back at square one.
Not because the work failed.
Because it deepened.
Each revision reorganized me.
Each new articulation reoriented my internal compass.
Like adjusting a telescope and realizing the stars have shifted while you blinked.
The framework pressed back.
Of course it did.
Architecture requires weight-bearing truths. It demands that the builder inhabit the structure long enough to know where the beams must go. You cannot fake gravity in a cathedral. You cannot rush a circle into being. It must be turned, measured, stepped into.
The Round Table is not about hierarchy. It is about relation.
Every card in the Artists Oracle sits equal in the circle.
Every element. Every principle. Every planetary current.
Each one speaks, then listens.
When you draw three cards for a landscape, or for a mandala, or for an abstract that refuses to name itself, you are not following instructions. You are convening a council.
The circle holds you steady while you experiment.
It allows contradiction without collapse.
It reminds you that beginning again is not regression. It is rotation.
And perhaps that is the quiet secret beneath the work:
We are not trying to escape square one.
We are learning to recognize it as the threshold.
Every return is a widening.
Every orbit carries new light.
The Round Table, the Artists Oracle waits.
Not to judge the craft of your heart.
But to witness it.
It remains open.
Not as a finished monument, but as a living architecture you step into each time you lift a brush or turn a card.
The circle does not promise certainty. It offers continuity.
A place where your questions can sit without urgency, where your materials become emissaries of inner weather, where the cosmos is not distant but participatory.
If the work presses back, it is only reminding you that you are building something that can hold you. Sit down. Begin again. The table remembers the shape of your hands. 🌒
The Oracle as it stands ♥️ If you incorporate it into your practice I would love your feedback!
